About

Judith Amores is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research, working on Interactive Multimodal Futures within the Future Experiences (FX) group. She is passionate about creating interactive, immersive and affective experiences that enhance human well-being and cognition.

Her research has two main focuses:

  1. Developing interactive and adaptive, multi-sensory interfaces that personalize visuals, sounds and interactive elements through AI.
  2. Bringing smell to technology: sensing, experiencing, and creating new scents with AI.

Judith’s work includes developing immersive VR/AR experiences and wearable systems that adapt their outputs in real-time based on user context data and physiological information, providing closed-loop interventions.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Judith was a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital and obtained her Ph.D. and Master’s degree on Olfactory Interfaces (opens in new tab) at the MIT Media Lab (opens in new tab), where she also served as co-president of VR/AR at MIT. She worked on augmented and virtual reality research during her two internships at Microsoft Research and as a Creative Technologist at the Google Creative Lab. She also holds a multimedia engineering degree from LaSalle University in Barcelona, Spain.
