Save the Date: Friday, August 24, 2018
You are invited to the Microsoft campus for a celebration of colleagues and collaborations on Eric Horvitz’ milestone birthday. The event will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018 and will include short talks from Eric’s colleagues and collaborators on the theme of principles and applications of computational intelligence.
Eric felt most comfortable celebrating others at this event–and using it as a great excuse to bring together folks. So, we are bringing together Eric’s beloved colleagues and collaborators from over the decades—with a goal of celebrating their ideas, collaborations, and contributions. These can include thinking and directions that were influenced by, or that resonate with Eric’s pursuit of principles and applications of machine intelligence.
This will be a fun, once-in-a-lifetime gathering, and we’d love to have you join us in person. Another email with details of the event and link for registration will follow soon. So, please Save the Date!
We plan to put together a collection of short essays and invite you to prepare one (1-6 pages) to be included in a special online collection (potentially made available also as a hardcopy book). We’re seeking essays on visionary ideas on directions on principles and/or applications of computational intelligence. The essays can optionally include your reflections about the influences of collaborations with Eric, or on ideas that align with his long-term interests and curiosity.
Feel free to reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org with questions about the gathering, and inform us about your availability.
We hope you to see you in August!
