Media Computing Group

The Media Computing group focuses on advancing media technologies to help the evolution of computing technologies, and vice versa. By efficiently virtualizing the and aggregating input and output of a computing devices, we can enable many new computing experiences, for example, new user interfaces, seamless device collaboration, effortless resources sharing and migration, thin client computing leveraging the cloud and other devices.  By leveraging new computing technologies, such as the cloud, mobile platforms, hardware media processors, various new sensors, small and big screens, we can enable new media experiences, for example, unlocking otherwise hidden digital assets, enhancing media data, adapting media contents to most-fit devices, analyzing and extracting useful information from big media data. The core technologies are developed around media analysis, compression, processing, communications, networking, user interface, security and system.
