Adam Atkinson is a Software Development Engineer within the Microsoft Research Montréal lab.

His work is focused on supporting deep learning research, particularly in the domains of machine comprehension and dialogue systems. In this role he has developed models to understand language, tools to train and interpret deep neural networks, product prototypes, and a new dataset for visual reasoning research.

Prior to joining Microsoft Research, Adam earned his Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, majoring in computer science.

Adam’s other research interests include deep learning applied to music and audio, multimodal machine learning, and the interpretability of machine learning models. He is also passionate about using artificial intelligence to solve scientific, economic, and social problems.
