About
I am a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research NYC. I received my PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (opens in new tab) from Princeton University, advised by Jason D. Lee (opens in new tab) and Yuxin Chen (opens in new tab). During my PhD I interned at the Flatiron Institute, and my research was supported by the DoD NDSEG Fellowship and the IBM PhD Fellowship. Previously, I received my B.S. degrees in Math and Computer Science and my M.Eng degree in EECS from MIT.
My research is focused on developing the mathematical and scientific foundations of modern AI. This has included deriving learning guarantees for shallow neural networks, understanding when and how transformers learn to acquire different capabilities during training, and building optimization theory to capture how deep networks are trained in practice.
