I am a researcher in the Information and Data Science group. My general research area is in the intersection of deep learning, semantics, and information retrieval. My current research interests include large scale text understanding, conversational information access, and neural information retrieval.
Before joining MSR AI, I obtained my Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University with Jamie Callan. My Ph.D. research revolves around bringing more semantics to information retrieval systems. The semantics can be explicit semantics from knowledge graphs, which lead to my dissertation “text representation, retrieval, and understanding with knowledge graphs”. It can also be distributed semantics learned by deep learning, which lead to my other bunch of work in neural information retrieval.
