About

Marah Abdin is a graduate from the University of Rochester with a B.S in Electrical Computer Engineering, with a passion for learning, creativity and travel. After participating in the Undergraduate Research Internship program during summer of 2019 at MSR NYC, she was fascinated by the work and culture at Microsoft and so continued to seek more opportunities at MSR. The latter led her to join the Central Engineering group at Redmond as a Research Software Development Engineer.

Throughout her undergraduate studies, she worked in research, both in hardware and software. She participated in the Xerox Engineering Fellowship, where she explored the transformation of Bismuth Ferrite using a steady electrical field to create a nano-sized platform to expand and compress 2D materials such as Graphite. As for her research work in software, during her internship in NYC, her focus was on the possibility of employing word-embedding and language models to detect gender bias in text on the sentence level.
