Murat is a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research – New England lab. His research interests include optimization, machine learning, statistics, applied probability, and the connections among these fields. He obtained his Ph.D. from Department of Statistics at Stanford University where he was jointly advised by Mohsen Bayati and Andrea Montanari. He has an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Stanford, and B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, both from Bogazici University. He will join the departments of Computer Science and Statistical Sciences at University of Toronto as an assistant professor, and the Vector Institute as a member in 2018.
