Nika Haghtalab is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Microsoft Research, New England. Her research interests include machine learning theory, computational aspects of economics, and algorithms. In her work, she is especially passionate about developing a foundation for machine learning that accounts for its interactions with people and organizations, and the wide variety of social and economic limitations, aspirations, and behaviors they demonstrate.
Nika recently completed her Ph.D. at the Computer Science Department of Carnegie Mellon University, co-advised by Avrim Blum and Ariel Procaccia. During her Ph.D., Nika was a recipient of a Microsoft Research Ph.D. fellowship, a Facebook Fellowship, an IBM Ph.D. fellowship, and a Siebel Scholarship. In the past, she has been a research intern at Microsoft Research, Redmond and New York City.
Nika will join Cornell University as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in July 2019.
