About
I’m a researcher at Microsoft Research in Redmond. My research interests include conversational AI, mobile systems, security and privacy.
I joined Microsoft Research after completing my Ph.D. (University of Helsinki, 2007) and a Post Doc (ETH Zurich, 2010) in Computer Science. Prior to that I got my Bachelor and Master degrees in Telecommunications Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. Much of my research has revolved around mobile systems, from the very earliest smartphones to modern platforms. I have worked on many aspects of mobile systems, from energy efficiency, ad hoc networking, and middleware for distribution of application modules to security and privacy. More recently, I have started exploring how AI and natural language interfaces are shaping a new world of conversational applications.
