About

I’m a Principal Research Manager at Microsoft Research in Redmond. My current research interests include systems, AI, and intelligent process automation. In particular, my team is researching how vision & language models and reinforcement learning can shape a new world of intelligent systems that are able to autonomously learn how to operate software applications “for us.” A precursor platform we built, Etna, modeled web applications as action graphs to support resilient process automation, and to bootstrap conversational chatbots.

Much of my earlier work revolved around mobile systems, focusing on various topics from energy efficiency, ad hoc networking, and middleware for distribution of application modules in the cloud, to service personalization, security and privacy.
