About

Roland works as a researcher and AI School director in the Deep Learning Technology Center.  His interests include reinforcement learning, lifelong learning, symbolic representation, AI education, and visualization.

Before coming to the DLTC, Roland worked in the VIBE group of Microsoft Research on Information Visualization and Human-Computer Interaction projects, most notably the SandDance project.  Previously, Roland worked  in the areas of Natural User Interfaces, Programmer Tools, Operating Systems, and Databases.
