Freeform 3D Interactions Beyond the Living Room
- David Kim
The Kinect sensor has brought natural and full body interactions to our homes and changed the way we think of and interact with computing devices. In Digits and FloodLight we focus on sensing hands (our primary mechanism to manipulate and interact with the physical world) with inexpensive hardware and explore the use of freeform 3D interactions in spaces beyond the living room. In this talk, I will describe the mechanisms and design choices we made to enable infrastructure-less mobile hand tracking, as well as high precision 3D interactions in desktop settings.
