Microsoft Research Cambridge Student Experience Day

Microsoft Research Cambridge is a world-leading lab at the forefront of research innovation. We are committed to inspiring and supporting the next generation of computer scientists and our Student Experience Day programme offers students a one-day exclusive experience at our lab.

The students are selected from nominations made by teachers within the UK. A call for nominations for the next Experience Day will go out in February 2018.

The students asked to join us for the day in June 2016 were:

Their visit included:

  • a behind the scenes tour of the Microsoft Research Cambridge lab
  • the chance to meet and interact with researchers and engineers
  • an opportunity to get hands-on with new and exciting technology and research

  • Teachers may nominate up to four students from the same school – further nominations will be disregarded.

    • Students may only be nominated once – multiple nominations will be disregarded.
    • Nominated students should be between 14-18 years old, and should be in secondary education in the UK at the time of nomination and the experience day.
    • Students will be selected by Microsoft based on the teachers’ nominations – our decision is final.
    • Students selected to participate agree to be filmed and photographed for promotional purposes during their visit. The resulting film and photographs will remain the property of Microsoft.

    Please note: Microsoft will provide up to £200 for each student to go towards travel and accommodation costs.
