Who We Are
The AI Economy Institute (AIEI) is Microsoft’s flagship think tank dedicated to shaping an inclusive, trustworthy AI economy. We building a network of scholars and convening that network with our subject matter experts to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming work, education, and productivity – and making this knowledge base available to policy-makers, educators, and leaders for informed-decision-making. Our north star is an economic future by design. And one we design together.

Cohort 3 Open Call: Frontier Firms and the Transformation of Work in the AI Economy
Starting February 20, we will be accepting proposals for our third cohort of Senior Fellows: Frontier Firms and the Transformation of Work in the AI Economy. We’re seeking research on how AI is reshaping firms, occupations, and productivity; what history teaches us from past general‑purpose technologies; and new methods for forecasting the frontier. Preference goes to proposals that are cross‑ or interdisciplinary, apply novel or AI‑enabled methods, use existing datasets or established field partnerships, examine cross‑country or regional dynamics, and deliver actionable insights to help people and institutions thrive in the age of AI.
The submission deadline is March 23rd at 5pm PDT.
