I currently work on Project AOC, investigating the use of optics and analog electronics for next-gen AI accelerators. Since joining Microsoft Research I’ve worked on multiple aspects of datacentre hardware across storage and comms as well as compute.
My background is as an optical physicist working mainly at the life sciences interface: my PhD was concerned with developing hardware, software and cell-based assays for high-content fluorescence lifetime imaging, and since then I’ve worked to develop a novel DNA sequencing platform and to investigate blood flow in zebrafish embryos.
