About

Harsh Vijay is a Senior Research SDE at Microsoft Research India working at the intersection of human–computer interaction and AI‑powered experiences. He focuses on interaction paradigms beyond chat, from hybrid mingling that bridges in‑person and remote participation to adaptive, long‑term memory for privacy‑respecting personalization in enterprise contexts. His work on HyWay demonstrates how hallway‑style, informal conversations can be supported in hybrid settings and has been featured by Microsoft Research India through its project page, podcast, townhall and associated publications. This later, become internal product, and was standard for hybrid events within company.

Earlier at MSR India’s Center for Societal impact through Cloud and AI (SCAI), he contributed to HAMS, a smartphone‑based platform for driver monitoring and automated driver‑license testing deployed with Indian state authorities, to Project Vishrambh, an auditable platform to improve transparency and trust in the philanthropy sector and Project BlendNet, a low‑cost satellite‑plus‑intelligent‑edge platform delivering digital content and services to last‑mile users, where he focused on offline delivery of content.

Previously, Harsh helped build data foundations at Microsoft’s C+AI organization (IDC), working on a data catalog (now Microsoft Purview) and reusable ML services experience that anchors his pragmatic approach to scalable research engineering.

An active builder, he prototypes rapidly earning multiple MS hackathon wins (5x) and is a named inventor on patents (3x), including work on hybrid interactions between virtual and physical users and multiple novel AI powered experiences.
