Hannah Washington

Hannah Washington (she/her) is an Applied Scientist in the Sociotechnical Alignment Center (STAC), supporting Microsoft’s research and tooling in the measurement and evaluation of AI systems. She holds a PhD in theoretical linguistics with research interests in conversational norms, pragmatics, language variation and change, sociolinguistics, and novel applications of linguistic theory including in human-computer interaction. Previously, she has worked in the space of data annotation and curation for bespoke language model training and fine-tuning and in project and program management.
