Senior Applied Scientist

About

I am a Senior Applied Scientist with the IC3-AI team at Microsoft where my focus lies on advancing reinforcement learning techniques for bandwidth estimation in real-time communications. Before embarking on my journey with Microsoft, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division (opens in new tab) at Argonne National Laboratory (opens in new tab), advised by Dr. Prasanna Balaprakash (opens in new tab). I received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (opens in new tab), Chicago, IL, USA, in 2016 and 2021, respectively, where I was advised by Dr. Lin Cai (opens in new tab).  My research interests span the broad areas of reinforcement learning (RL), safe RL, multi-fidelity RL, statistical machine learning, and data-driven optimization of next generation networks. I received a Fulbright Predoctoral Scholarship (opens in new tab) from the U.S. Department of State in 2015, and the Starr/Fieldhouse Research Fellowship (opens in new tab) from Illinois Tech in 2019 (opens in new tab). I am a member of IEEE, IEEE ComSoc, IEEE HKN, SIAM, and AAAS.
