About
Varun Jain is an Applied Scientist at Microsoft in the IC3 Media Intelligence group, where he works on improving video-related AI features across Teams and Skype.
He has designed, trained, and shipped models for video enhancement, person segmentation, and face detection and tracking. His current work spans video relighting, video quality enhancement, and differentiable perceptually-motivated video quality assessment. Prior to joining Microsoft, Varun was a graduate student at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and a visiting researcher at Meta Reality Labs in Pittsburgh.
He is passionate about applications of computer vision in Augmented and Virtual Reality, telepresence, hand gesture recognition, robotics, and machine learning, with broader interests in IoT and cryptocurrencies.
