Yan Lu is the Principal Research Manager of Media Computing Group, Microsoft Research Asia, where he leads a team of researchers and engineers to develop core technologies around intelligent video analytics, computer vision, natural user interface, video coding and communications, screen virtualization and cloud computing. Since joining MSRA in 2004, he and his team has transferred many key techniques to Microsoft products such as Windows, Windows Server, Azure Media Service, Xbox XDK, Kinect Studio, Skype, Office Communications, and Expression Suite.
From 2001 to 2004, Yan Lu was a team lead of video coding group in the JDL Lab, Institute of Computing Technology, China, where he led the development of key techniques for MPEG-4, H.264, and China AVS standard. He was one of the key technical contributors and the editors of the first version AVS video standard. From 1999 to 2000, he worked on near CD quality audio compression in the City University of Hong Kong. From 1997 to 1999, he worked on facial expression recognition in the VI Lab, Harbin Institute of Technology, China.
Yan Lu has authored/coauthored 100+ journal and conference papers in multimedia. He holds 30+ granted US patents and 19 granted Chinese patents. He also has a couple of key technologies adopted by international standards such as MPEG-4, H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC. Yan Lu received his PhD in computer science from Harbin Institute of Technology, China.
吕岩：微软亚洲研究院多媒体计算方向首席研究员和负责人，现领导团队从事智能媒体分析、计算机视觉、自然用户界面、视频压缩与通信、桌面虚拟化及云计算等方向的关键技术研究。自2004年加入微软以来，吕岩及其团队的众多研究成果已转化至Windows、Windows Server、Azure Media Service、Xbox XDK、Kinect Studio、Skype、Office Communications、Expression Suite等关键产品中。吕岩在多媒体领域发表学术论文100余篇，获得美国专利授权30余项，并有多项技术被MPEG-4、H.264/AVC和H.265/HEVC等国际标准采用。吕岩拥有哈尔滨工业大学计算机科学博士学位。
