Microsoft Next’s Health Cloud & Platform team’s vision is to make health data accessible, easy to use and available to all healthcare workers and organizations as they need it. Data interoperability is at the core of our service, and we work to enable data workloads that can light up analytics, AI and ML once we help bring your data into Azure in a way designed for security and compliance.
We leverage the cloud for health data by enhancing core Azure components with technology for healthcare specific scenarios. This expands healthcare connectivity across the Microsoft ecosystem for easier interoperability and acceleration of machine learning.

Manage health data in the cloud with FHIR®
Simplify data management with a single, consistent solution for protected health information (PHI). Azure API for FHIR brings together health data from disparate systems using industry standard HL7 FHIR. This robust, extensible data model standardizes semantics and data exchange so all systems using FHIR can work together.

Enable remote patient monitoring and telehealth
Build a scalable, end-to-end data pipeline that helps secure your PHI data workflows using the Azure IoT Connector for FHIR (IoT Connector). A feature of Azure API for FHIR, the IoT Connector helps secure ingestion of biometric data from devices and normalizes that data into FHIR so you can view it in context with other clinical data sets. Now in public preview.

Enable interoperability with Medical Imaging & DICOM
The Medical Imaging Server for DICOM streamlines the process of ingesting medical imaging data into the cloud with a simple click to deploy. Elevating interoperability, the Medical Imaging Server for DICOM is the first cloud technology to bring together DICOM data standard and FHIR using the DICOM Cast feature. Concurrent with data upload through the Medical Imaging Server for DICOM, structured metadata from imaging files is seamlessly linked to clinical health data stored in FHIR.
