The system described in this paper enables users to virtually explore large environments from the comforts of their sofa (a). A standard wireless gamepad (b) allows the user to easily navigate through the modeled environment which is displayed on a large wall screen (c). This results in a compelling experience that marries the realism of high quality imagery acquired from real world locations together with the 3D interactivity typical of computer games.
