AD Dev Tech Talk – Building Servers at Scale using node.js
- William Adams | Microsoft
Building cloud services that are highly scalable and efficient is a challenge that all companies face. Today’s web services utilize patterns such as asynchronous I/O and event driven scheduling to maximize efficiency, reducing the overall cost per transaction for a certain class of services. This talk is an exploration of node.js, what it’s good for, what it’s not good for, and how it represents a relatively new way of doing things, which can be more efficient in both time and maintenance. The Application Gateway is used as a backdrop to explain the benefits and pitfalls of using node.
