Convergence of the Abelian sandpile

The Abelian sandpile growth model is a deterministic diffusion process for configurations of chips on the integer lattice. I will discuss joint work with Wesley Pegden on the scaling limit of the stable configurations.

Speaker Details

Charles Smart is currently an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at the Courant Institute. He finished is Ph.D. last year at UC Berkeley as a student of Craig Evans and Leo Harrington. Next year, he will be an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow and Moore Instructor at MIT.
