This lecture will provide an overview of the scope and evaluation of renewable energy resources from the National Renewable Energy Labs located in Golden, CO. Also discussed is the challenges face by renewable energy and the intersection in the compute space.

Speaker Details

Steve is the Director of the Computational Science Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO where he leads NREL’s high performance computing, computational science, and energy efficient data center activities.

Prior to joining NREL in 2002, Steve spent 10 years at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, CO, four years at the NASA Ames Research Center in CA; and four years at GE’s Corporate R&D Center, in Schenectady, NY.

Steve earned his PhD in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, NY and his MS in Computer Science and BA Mathematics from the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY.
