Visualization Clusters: from Tiled Displays to Remote Visualization
- Paul Navratil | Texas Advanced Computing Center
Distributed memory clusters dominate the Top500 list, providing unprecedented computing power and generating massive datasets. The analysis and visualization of these datasets increasingly requires a cluster as well, either as a separate machine or as part of the simulation machine itself. Further, the display and analysis of such data has moved to clusters, including high-resolution tiled display clusters and cutting-edge touch and touchless interfaces. This talk presents the state of the art in visualization cluster technology through the experience of researchers at the Texas Advanced Computing Center, covering the construction and maintenance of integrated and stand-alone remote visualization clusters, small- and large-scale tiled displays, and high-resolution touch and touchless interfaces.
Speaker Details
Paul is the manager for visualization software at the Texas Advanced Computing Center, and he is the lead for TACC’s remote visualization systems. He was also an architect of Stallion, TACC’s 307 Mpixel tiled display. Paul received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin in scalable, distributed-memory ray tracing, and his research continues in scalable, distributed visualization algorithms and systems.
