More and more countries and organizations have realized that sustainability is crutial to human’s survival. How to effectively solve environmental pollution and greenhouse effect is the key challenge of sustainability. However, there are lots of technical problems in these aspects that are difficult to solve by traditional methods. As a socially responsible company, Microsoft has long been committed to using the latest AI technology to solve the problem of sustainability. In this sharing, we will introduce the latest works of Microsoft Research Asia about using AI technology to deal with environmental pollution and greenhouse effect. Compared with traditional method, these AI-based methods can achieve better results with more efficiency.
Speaker Details
Jia Zhang is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research Asia. He has long been engaged in AI and interdisciplinary research. His current research focuses on using AI technology to address key issues in sustainability, including improving the efficiency of clean energy and carbon capture and storage. Specifically, he has focused on developing key technologies in these areas, such as more efficient modeling of physical/chemical systems and faster first-principles calculations in new material design. Prior to joining Microsoft, he received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. So far, he has published more than ten papers in KDD, AAAI, AMMAS, GMD and other well-known international conferences and journals.
