AICE – AI, Cognition, and the Economy | Fall 2023 Workshop

Eastern Daylight Time (UTC -4)

Location: Microsoft Research New York City

This was an invite-only workshop.

In recent years, large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence have made remarkable strides in a variety of tasks such as improving question answering, natural language understanding, and machine translation. As we embrace this new generation of AI tools, it becomes essential to explore how AI can be utilized to enhance human cognition and decision-making processes across various domains.

We brought together researchers with a keen interest in the interplay between AI, cognitive augmentation, productivity, and labor. This October gathering centered on the dynamic between AI and cognition. We envision a Spring workshop that will examine the further implications of AI on the workforce and the broader economy. Additional future workshops or other events that help propel this research agenda forward will also be considered.

By forging connections and fostering collaboration, we intend to pave the way for a network dedicated to sharing insights and shaping the future landscape of work.
