About
Jiahao Li is currently a principal researcher at Media Computing Group, Microsoft Research Asia. Before that, he received B.S. degree in computer science and technology from the Harbin Institute of Technology, in 2014, and Ph.D. degree in computer application technology from Peking University, in 2019. He previously worked on traditional video codec and has contributed several key technologies to international codec standards, like Versatile Video Coding/H.266 and AOM AV1. His recent research works on neural image and video codec continue to push the frontier of compression research. His current research spans a broader scope: neural compression, visual generation, video understanding, agentic video system, and long-horizon video memory/context. He has contributed several technique transfers to Microsoft real-time communication product Teams.
