Demystifying Workflow in an Urban Emergency Department

The aim of this interactive session is to deconstruct operations in a high-volume, urban Emergency Department, examining the concepts of patient and information flow and how they relate to medical decision-making in a complex system with inherent uncertainty. Existing projects with MSR in this domain will be highlighted. Discussion exploring areas for future collaborations is highly encouraged.

Speaker Details

After graduating from the University of Washington School of Medicine, Dr. Justin Gatewood completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals where he served as Education Chief Resident. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, practicing at Washington Hospital Center, and is Clinical Instructor at Georgetown University School of Medicine, both in Washington, D.C.
