I work on physically-based simulation, particularly sound simulation for interactive audio-visual applications like games and Virtual Reality.
I like researching problems with direct practical impact, such as past work on impact sound synthesis that shipped in the Microsoft game Crackdown 2. For the past four years, I have been collaborating with a major game studio within Microsoft to incorporate my research on pre-computed sound propagation in their title. This game will ship later this year. An important current research focus is to improve sound simulation in interactive augmented and virtual reality experiences.
