Stroke rehabilitation using the Kinect
- Jeff Running, Microsoft
A collaboration between Microsoft Research Asia and Seoul National University, Stroke Recovery with Kinect is an interactive, home-rehabilitation system for patients who are recovering from strokes. Built using the Microsoft Kinect for Windows software development kit (SDK), the program can interpret, measure, and evaluate a patient’s level of rehabilitation as they move. Unlike traditional physical therapy, Kinect rehabilitation is made up of various movement-based games and activities designed to help patients access their normally unused muscles—all from the comfort of their own home.
