AI Forum 2023 | Phase Transition in AI
Recent AI advances, such as ChatGPT and more powerful GPT-4, surprised the world with new capabilities and fueled concerns around societal impact. In this talk, I will present a view to these advances from the lens of as a researcher tasked with responsible deployment of this technology in the real-world. I will discuss why we are at a phase transition in AI, both in terms of the immense potential for impact as well as rising risks that need to be mitigated by sociotechnical solutions. I will conclude with a discussion of the sociotechnical implications of AI technologies in the way we live and work.
