Assamese Text Translation Is Here

Today, Microsoft Translator adds Assamese text translation. Assamese is available now, or will be available soon, in the Microsoft Translator apps, Office, and Translator for Bing. It joins Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and English as the 13th commonly used language of the Indian subcontinent to be available in Microsoft Translator.

You can add Assamese text translation to or from more than 70 languages to your apps, websites, workflows and tools with Azure Cognitive Services Translator. You can also use Azure Cognitive Services Speech, which combines Translator’s AI-powered translation service with Speech’s advanced speech recognition and speech synthesis, to translate speech into Assamese text or to translate Assamese text into another language with speech output. You can view the list of languages available for speech recognition and speech synthesis on the Microsoft Translator website.

The Assamese language (অসমীয়া)

The Assamese language, also known as Axomiya and written in Assamese script as অসমীয়া, is spoken in Eastern India by approximately 14 million people. Assamese is the official language of the Indian state of Assam and is one of the 22 regional languages recognized as official languages of the Republic of India. The state of Assam is well known for its tea and for being home to the one-horned Indian rhinoceros.

Assamese is an Indo-European language related to other languages of the Indian subcontinent such as Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, and Odia as well as European languages such as Norwegian, French, Greek, and English.
